About Far & Away Homes
Far & Away Homes is a property management company based in southern Vermont, focused on short-term rentals near Stratton Mountain. We manage a small portfolio of properties — and we intend to keep it that way.
Most property management companies scale by adding listings. We scale by making the properties we already manage perform better. That means more attention to each property, more responsive guest communication, and better income for the owners who trust us with their investment.
Who We Are
Far & Away is locally owned and operated in southern Vermont. We started because we saw how much money owners were leaving on the table with generic management approaches — and how many were getting blindsided by tax obligations nobody had explained to them.
We currently manage two properties in the Stratton area:
- Whispering Pines Lodge — A 5-bedroom luxury property with a pool, hot tub, and sauna. One of the highest-reviewed vacation rentals in southern Vermont.
- Stratton Chalet — A 3-bedroom ski chalet with a hot tub and sauna, a five-minute drive from the Stratton base lodge.
Both properties consistently rank among the top-performing short-term rentals in the area. That's the standard we hold ourselves to — and the standard we apply to every property we take on.
What Makes Us Different
In-house accounting expertise
We have a CPA advisor doing bank-reconciled bookkeeping for every property we manage. Every booking — platform or direct — is categorized. Every Vermont Meals and Rooms Tax obligation is tracked. At year-end, our owners get a clean reconciled statement, not a spreadsheet they have to reverse-engineer.
Professional photography on every onboarding
Professional photos aren't an add-on or a package upgrade. They're standard. We do the full shoot before the first booking goes live — wide-angle interiors, exterior shots, lifestyle staging.
Dynamic pricing, not flat rates
Vermont STR revenue swings dramatically by season, day of week, and local events. We use dynamic pricing tools and active rate management to capture peak demand and stay competitive in shoulder season.
Honest conversations about income projections
We don't inflate income projections to win contracts. If a property doesn't pencil out under professional management, we'll tell you that — and explain why.
